Royal Tern Are So Incredible To View And Photograph

I'm a photographer in Sarasota Florida. I have lived in Florida my whole life and have never seen a Royal Tern until I photographed one on the Venice Florida Fishing Pier on 1-20-11. I have fallen in love with this bird. I mean these are just a really cool bird. The Royal Tern is a large orange billed (sometimes yellow to reddish bill) bird only found along ocean beaches. Like all terns, it is fiercely defensive of its nest and young. Terns will plunge dive for fish to eat. The male will offer the female fish as part of the courting ritual.


The videos here I shot in October 2013. It is pretty rare in Florida to see Royal Tern, so I was very fortunate to capture them. They are incredible for sure.
